The journey took them through logging country down the coastal highway, route 1.

Along the way, just outside Coos Bay, Oregon, were these crazy sand dunes that called to the brothers playful nature. They rented dune buggies and careened into the sandy wasteland. Looking back it was a highlight of the trip for which, unfortunately, there are no pictures to bring fond remembrances. Oh well. But it was really cool even after Ben ended up crashing his and flipping over.
