Kilauea Crater

Chain of Craters Road leads southeast from Kilauea Crater out to the ocean. Along the way is a record of eruptions in the last century, steaming craters, smoking mounds, and the miles of recent flows. The road ends where once it continued east, buried beneath volcanic rock. What man builds in the face of such forces, nature ultimately takes away, a slap on the wrist of post modern invention and a gentle reminder to think before ye build.
