Kilauea Crater
The northern rim of Kilauea provides excellent views of the variable country side.
To the east are native rainforests, to the west volcanic desert.
Steam leaks from cracks in the crater's surface, the fate of rains
that have seeped far enough down to caress the hot heart of Pele that beats mightily below the deceptively
quiet surface. Quakes constantly set the land ashudder, gentle reminders that forces of
great fury are still at work here.
