Kind of a soft opening for this project, which has been rehearsing on and off throughout the whole pandemic. All kinds of fusion covers (and some prog thrown in for good measure) and it was a free show set up by Josh. Had a pretty good showing at the Back Room in Berkeley as we played two sets of so many notes. As Sam (the guy who ran the place) said at the end, it was hilarious how the moments in 7/4 were the relaxing times during the show. Anyway, we did really good all things considered for a first show in front of people playing this hard shit. Some old friends I haven't seen in a while came out for this, which was lovely.

Great gig at Baltic Kiss up in Richmond, CA. Fun venue that I hadn't been to before, and they were super friendly and people showed up. We went through a similar set like the previous gig but we actually whipped out all the Gentle Giant stuff we've been working on as well. Somebody went "woo!" after I played those medieval bits in the middle of "Experience." Good fun, good playing, and we kind played solidly from 7pm to 10:30pm except for a break in the middle. Phew! So many notes!

Another fun show with this band, this time playing at Jupiter in Berkeley. First time I played that venue in almost 20 years! Same old, same old - fun crowd, a lot of people came out, my keyboards were too low in the mix as we were cramped on the stage and amp was right next to my head. But we made it through three sets of this material successfully despite wind knocking my music around (even with page protectors!) and cold fingers not wanting to do all the gymnastics during the solos.

We did a short set as part of the annual Murder Ballads show at the Starry Plough in Berkeley. It's been a while! There were a zillion other acts doing songs about killing and stuff. A lot of people came out for our little three song blast. Aimed for quality instead of quantity.

We were back at Baltic Kiss in Richmond, doing a couple sets of all kinds of 70's prog and fusion, and adding two more tunes to the fold: ELP's "Karn Evil 9 part 2" and a medley of themes from Tull's "Thick as a Brick." I think that was the first time I officially performed any Keith Emerson bits on stage? (That is, outside of noodling between songs or at soundcheck.)

Last minute gig filling in for another band during an all day event at the Ivy Room - we were between the Guilty Pleasures doing a whole bunch of old fun covers and the super dance-alicious Dap. We were able to squeeze in some rehearsals and get it together to do a pretty rad set. This included shaking out a new one live: "Fountain." Good fun! People dug it. And Karen organized the whole thing, including getting a mobile food vendor to set up on the curb out front serving bacon wrapped frankfurters and hot links. Of course I ate that before and after the gig.
